Pete Markiewicz

Pete Markiewicz is a UX Designer who consults on projects in digital media, Design Thinking for business, Service Design, and UX research. Many of his clients are startups, who need work on their business model, or want to incorporate user-centered design into their projects. After a first career in STEM science, he began designing and developing interactive systems in 1993.Pete’s work has included web and application design, research, and prototyping. He is also a teacher, and has developed courses and entire program models for various design colleges and universities.Pete works best with organizations that are trying to shift their focus to human-centered design. He has advised companies on how to introduce UX into their product and service design. He is an expert at virtual collaboration tools, and comfortable with remote teams.Pete is also Subject Matter Expert (SME) in virtual and augmented reality, collectively referred to as Xtendeded Reality (XR). He is part of XR Game Wizards, which helps students learn how to create work in remote teams, and UX principles to the design of the metaverse. He sees the XRmore as an extended medium for storytelling, going beyond 3D models and headsets.Pete’s interests go beyond the UX and design world. He worked for many years with Strauss & Howe, the creators of the “Millennial” generation model. For many years he ran seminars and workshops on Millennials at the USC Marshall School of business. Currently, he helps organizations ignore the hype about generations, while applying meaningful cohort insights to their markets.Pete also has a keen interest in applying sustainable design principles. In 2011, he created the Sustainable Virtual Design blog, which examined the carbon footprint of websites and apps. He continues to contribute to the discussion about how to make the web more efficient and sustainable.Pete is currently helping Diamond develop a business strategy that extends standard production into cross-platform assets and storytelling. He is also helping Diamond create effective web and application strategy for its projects.
